week 3-kinetic typography

kinetic typography from lara hughes on Vimeo.

This week we were focusing on typography! This is one of my favourite styles of motion graphics! However it took me a while to master this technique. I was quiet slow as I tried to match up the text with the audio, however I feel that the movement and the rhythm of text reflects/adds to the audio. I did this by trying to animate the text in a way that visually describe his tone and emphasis of words. This can be seen when i animated the word ME at the end-he says it clearly and emphasise the word-so i made it large to visually show this. As tyhe audio was quitet energic and fast paced I tried to match this by animating the text on and off quickly-with energy using the wiggle.
The key to this exercise was the timing and I feel that I this successfully achieved this and as a result the audio syncs with the visuals. I also used colour to further add to the change in audio however could of made them more relevent colours- like red for enphasis instead of pink-just not the same effect.

If I had time I would of like to add in camera movement, 3D text and smoother transitions to create more of a sense of urgency -like in his voice. If i ever do this again i should also think about the type itself- in this case i just picked the most easilly readable font however-i could of used it to add another layer-like when he changes tone slightly or enphasises a word.
